Never Enough. Ever.

I realized as I wrote that title, that it sounds terrible.  But hopefully, I’ll be able to clarify by the end of the post and it won’t seem like I am horrible, greedy person!  lol!

I am finishing up my Spring Break and as I review what my To Do list was and what I actually got done, I realized it’s never enough.  Never enough time, energy, and even creativity!  So, then it became a matter of really enjoying what I did accomplish and taking pleasure in the fact that I was able to make SOME progress.  IMG_20160331_143933744_HDR

I started work on my new craft table, which was an extra 9 foot tall door from downstairs.  I will be getting pieces of glass to cover it and I think it’s going to be a great workspace!  I am super excited about it.

Ironically, on October 15th…I moved this very door from almost the exact same spot it is in now.  When I bought the house, the doors had been stored in what is now the craft room.  Well, I wanted them hanging in their original door frames.  But once I lived in the house for a while, I realized I didn’t want all of these extra doors.  So, back upstairs it went.  I think it’s much more handy as a table!

Have I mentioned…those doors are extremely heavy!

I also got my craft closet one step closer to being done. It still needs plaster work done and painted.  But at least I have started to be able to put things away to make more space in the main room.

So, sometimes, it’s the very smallest things that you have to focus on.  But it’s very easy to feel like there is never enough time.  When that starts to happen, just remind yourself that every little bit counts and you’re only in race against yourself.  Not the world.  Not the expectations.  Not anyone else.  Just you.  So, be patient and forgiving of yourself daily.

As a friendly reminder, I woke up this morning to a fresh blanket of April snow.  There is something so refreshing and calming about snow.  I kinda needed it this morning.

Which translates to….we are hunkered down for a nice quiet morning 🙂

Enjoy the day everyone.

Peace out peeps.

Rainy Day Crafts

So, sometimes, when I am preparing for my classes, I start to wonder if they are worth it.  I mean, between the shopping and the prep work and the clean-up, it can be daunting at times.  But then I remind myself, that the point of this is that I want to create an escape for people.  A place to go and enjoy the afternoon, eat, mingle and create!  When I remind myself of that, each class is perfect.  And I love it.  All of it.

A big shout out to Momma D for her amazing prep and help with the food.  Hands down, might be everyone’s favorite part of the class.  I truly don’t know what I would do without her being a part of these classes…and hey, my life in general.  She’s pretty remarkable.

For the record, I did help make the food.  But she makes all the really pretty things. Like those TINY tomatoes that she hallows out and stuffs with yummy stuff.

Then when everyone shows up, it just makes it even better.  There was grazing, chatting, lots of laughing and just general relaxation!

The best part was seeing everyone put their own spin on their wreaths.  I love seeing the individuality!

So, we had a great afternoon.  Ate way too much food and laughed really hard!  To the ladies who participated…you totally made my day!  Thank you!

Now, back to full-on warfare with Petunia/Petie the skunk.

Peace out peeps.

happy friday.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to take a second and check in on everyone (the two of you, plus my momma who read this!).  I don’t know about you, but it had been another INSANE, fun week in the life of Lyndsey (maybe that should be my book title?)

So, Petunia/Petie the Skunk update.

2243266516_skunk_xlarge

You know it he/she is….ANNOYING!!!

Attempts just this week to remove my squatter include:

  1. Setting a trap with yummy wet cat food = NOTHING
  2. BLARING music and full blast to annoy the critter all night long = NOTHING
  3. Allowing my dog to BARK and DIG at the floor relentlessly = NOTHING
  4. Ammonia filled rags near and around the area = NOTHING

So, this weekend.  I’m upping my game.  Full warfare combat is on.  This means that I will have to go to the basement and investigate ways to get light and the ammonia rags into the TINY crawl space.  Best options at this moment are balloons filled with little amounts of ammonia and a work light.  I am also going to try mothballs.

Good news, I think I have even talked myself out of trapping Petunia/Petie.  The last thing I want is to have to deal with a pissed off skunk.

In other news (notice I didn’t say “good” news), I went on a date.  That was comical.

He ended up having a “past”.  Not like one of the other guys I went out with a few years ago with… who ended up being a registered sex offender.  This guy had ONLY embezzled almost $500,000 from a small company.  You know it’s not good for you when one Google search of your name produces top results which include “FBI”. Too think, his biggest concern was whether or not I was gonna be a good kisser.

Ummmm…dude, your priorities are SLIGHTLY skewed.

But, MOST exciting for the week….

This weekend is the Wreath Making Class!!!!!

I have been really busy prepping this week and as usual have purchased WAY too many supplies…but supplies are like food, you can never have too much!

But, I’m really excited to have a class again! Check back to see how it goes…and thanks in advance to those who are coming out!

Remember…

You get to control your happiness.  Don’t take that responsibility lightly.

Peace out Peeps.

Craft rooms…the good, bad and ugly.

So, I have a 4-day weekend coming up.  I am torn between tackling the dining room or the craft room (or ambitiously, both…or should I say…insanely).

With that being said, my OCD has kicked in.  Looking up ideas, brainstorming out what I like and don’t like and then sprinkling…I mean POURING in a whole lot of reality.

Pinterest.

God how I LOVE to HATE you.

You are NOT reality.  You are as real as the lottery.  Especially when it comes to designing and organizing craft room spaces.

However, like the bikini body I’ll never have…I WANT YOU!!!  The GORGEOUS, LAVISH, PERFECT room for nothing but hours of blissful crafting.  I mean, in my dream world…lovely light, perfect containers situated just Martha Stewart perfect. The cozy, beautiful sitting chair where I can count the hours watching out the window while putting the finishing touches on the creations that I can share with the world.

POUR ON THE REALITY!!!

This is a slight example of full work mode currently…not TERRIBLE…but not the room of my dreams!

I have a closet full of house repair products the previous tenants left.  Walls that are a mess.  Holes, a sorta finished newer wall (which is actually going to go bye bye) and stacks of stuff everywhere.  Ahhh, the story of every craft person out there…stacks of STUFF.

So, how do you get to that perfect craft room?  I have found lots of tricks and tips for organization…anyone?  Input?  Wanna share you favorite picks of your craft space???  HELP ME????

The one thing I have working for me is I do have AMAZING light…and it’s a good sized room.

Note:  I wouldn’t recommend spray painting in the house.

And I get to see the most amazing sunsets!

IMG_20151224_173124355
Check out those walls!  I actually might keep the idea and just recreate it…I wish they wouldn’t have gotten lazy and painted over the hand created border!

And the dogs love hanging out with me when I am up there!

IMG_20151224_151618645_HDR
Check out the light!!!

So, take a second….share a pic.  A thought.  A helpful hint that helped make your craft space perfect!  As soon as I start, there will be before and after pics coming!!  Can’t WAIT!!!

Peace out peeps.

YES!!!!!!! SUCCESS!!!!

Today was a big day for me!  When I started this entire venture a few months ago, it seemed ages away that I would actually be able to host a class.  Well, today was the day!!

I hosted an ornament making class and I think it went really well.  I am so lucky to have such a wonderful group of people around me, especially people who enjoy being creative as much as I do!

IMG_20151229_122545256
Everything just waiting to make a mess!

There was food, crafting and friendship…does it get any better than that????

IMG_20151230_104023726_HDR
Can’t have a party without cookies!

I am just so glad that it was a success.  I think everyone who came had fun, I got to learn a little more about how classes in the future can go.  Overall though…this is the beginning of a long and beautiful journey!

I  CAN NOT WAIT! 🙂

Today is the Day!!!

Welcome everyone!

I guess I should start with introductions!  My name is Lyndsey and I could be called crazy.  Truthfully.

About 6 weeks ago, I found a historic piece of property and call it karma, insanity, passion…whatever you will, I knew I needed to own it.  So, today is the day.  I get the keys today!!  To what is, in my humble opinion, the coolest old house and barn around.  Now, I can be honest.  it’s rough around the edges.  The worst house you’ve ever seen, nooooo….but needs some serious TLC, yes!  The first step is the eviction of all of creepy crawlers who have been calling it home over the last few months.

Over the new few days, weeks, years and even decades (LOL!!), I am hoping to document this journey.  You will hopefully get to know me and my level and passion for these old homes and help me create my legacy.  There are lots of ideas and hopes rolling around in this head of mine, so…today is the day!  I’m so excited and scared at the same time, I can hardly stand it.  Check out my website and Facebook/Instagram for more pictures of projects.  This blogging thing is new to me, so please forgive me learning curve!

**Before I leave…

A HUGE thank you to all of my friends and family who have been so patient and tolerant of my panic attacks, paranoia of change and overall lack of confidence in this project.  Your support has been tremendous and without you, I would not be here today.  Now, you’re not done…any of you!  Get a rag and some cleaning supplies, we start on Sunday!  Oh, and your pay…how’s pizza sound?????  LOVE YOU ALL!
