Yesterday, I started to share the story of our big family reunion over the holiday weekend. Because it’s my blog and I make the rules around this place (about the only place I can!) I decided to focus on the stunning family home first. I mean, that’s important stuff right there!
But while I was going through the pics from the day, I realized there was so much else that happened that was EQUALLY as cool! I know, it’s hard to comprehend…but my family…is awesome! We are definitely a group of talented, passionate characters!
We like food. Not just any food either, but good food. Really good food.
So, the prized guest as this event was Mr. Pig.
While my Uncle was toiling over Mr. Pig….my Momma was toiling over the Mini Piggies!
Oh. My. Gosh.
I know, cuter than you can handle huh?
It gets better!!
Wait for it……..
You know, you really can’t do “Wait for it…” in a blog?
Because I can’t control your pace at reading.
Well, I guess I sorta can….
BECAUSE I JUST DID!!!!! LOL!!!!
Ok, what you’ve been waiting for!
Look at their little butts!! The tails!!! I mean, come on…that’s adorable!
Now, here’s the tale that goes with these darlings. They were made out of a quilt that originally came from the farmhouse. My mom took the quilt apart and made these pigs for all of the 1st cousins to have an heirloom from the farm.
Talk about heritage and tradition, huh? It runs deep in our clan.
Even the rag rug this piggy is laying on. It was made on my great-great-10x-grandfather’s loom. Which, I currently have in my classroom at school for my students to use!
You know what else runs deep in our clan?
I mean, it’s in my veins…I feel it, can’t avoid it. I just feel bad for anyone near me when the need to do/make something hits.
Like my Momma.
It was documented. The picture of her working on these at 3:15 in the morning the night before the reunion (for the record, she stayed up until 5)
But I love her.
Plus, I love oxygen…so I won’t share the pic dad sent.
Now all of the Mini Piggies are in homes with our family members and hopefully will continue to be passed down through the generations.
Lucky for me, my family also LOVES photos….so I’ll leave you with this little blast from the past.
Me. Circa 1997. Good thing I still love bibs! Btw…2016 is the “Summer of the Bib-Overall”. Watch for it. Big news.
Peace out peeps.
